Pain Portraits

Occasionally entomologists who study ants will pour molten metal into an anthill to makes a cast of the underground structure. This is how we know what these otherwise unviewable shapes look like. Sometimes when I have a migraine I picture doing that same burnout casting process with the pain. Recently, I've been trying to take notes on the forms my pain takes on. I hope to transform the shapes, textures and colors into a visual vocabulary to help express parts of my experience I have been previously unable to.
